Pages of Life Pt 3

The book of Psalms is a collection of songs, poems and prayers. Together they are referred to as the prayer book & hymn book of Jesus.  He and His disciples would have known many of them by heart.  Much like you and I know popular songs verse for verse…we simply memorized them through repetition. Songs of pilgrimage as worshippers would make their annual trips UP to the city of Jerusalem to celebrate festivals.

Each song is like a prayer that evokes the experience of being far from home & beset by barbarians. Then it ends with a call to praise God.
